6th March 2009 Print
M&G took the prestigious ‘Best Overall Group (Large)' Award at the Thomson Reuters Lipper Fund Awards UK 2009.

The M&G Strategic Corporate Bond Fund won ‘Best Fund' award within the Lipper classification of UK Corporate Bond and the M&G Emerging Markets Bond Fund won ‘Best Fund' award within the Lipper classification of Emerging Markets Global.

Jonathan Willcocks, Managing Director Global Sales at M&G, comments: "These awards recognise the consistently strong performance we have achieved across our fund range at M&G; highlighted by the esteemed title of ‘Best Overall Group' and the individual awards for Jim Leaviss and Richard Woolnough, who have both continued to deliver excellent long term performance in very difficult market conditions."

The M&G Strategic Corporate Bond Fund aims to maximise total return through investment predominantly in investment grade corporate bonds, but may invest in other debt instruments including higher yielding corporate bonds and government debt. The fund manager employs a ‘top-down' investment approach where his economic outlook will determine the portfolio's duration and concentration in asset classes and sectors.

The M&G Emerging Markets Bond Fund aims to maximise total return. It is diversified by country, from Latin America to Europe to Asia, and by credit rating. The fund takes modest under and over weight geographical positions relative to its benchmark, the Merrill Lynch Emerging Markets Index, based on the fund manager's perception of yields relative to economic fundamentals and political outlook.
