Ignis Asia Pacific team scoops equity prize at PIPA Awards

Ignis Asset Management's Asia Pacific equities team won the prestigious Active Asia-Pacific equity category at the annual Pensions and Investment Provider Awards in London last week.

The awards, held at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel on 6 May, recognise providers who have delivered excellent service to UK pension schemes over the previous year.

The Ignis Asia Pacific team, headed by Andrea McNee, CIO international equities, was heralded for its strong long-term performance (the Far East Equity Pooled Pension Fund has outperformed the index over 1, 2, 3 and 5 years) and the consistency and robustness of its process.

The team, one of the longest serving and most experienced Asia Pacific teams in the UK, has won approaching £200m in new mandates over the past six months, including a £124 million segregated portfolio from Russell Investments and a £38 million portfolio from a major international bank.

The Asia Pacific desk is responsible for managing assets of £500 million on behalf of retail, institutional, international and life company investors.

Jonathan Polin, director, Ignis Asset Management, says: "We are delighted that the Ignis Asia Pacific team has won this prestigious award, which is testament to the managers' proven investment process, the length of their tenure and their impressive track record over many years.

"The team has been awarded several major mandates in recent months, which clearly demonstrates the esteem in which it is held across the industry. Andrea and her colleagues have proven that they can outperform the market and their peer group over a long period and through a wide range of market conditions and this award is welcome recognition of their ability and process."
