HSBC has launched two new zero per cent interest credit card special offers.

The first offer is available for applications via HSBC branches and on the phone. The second is available online from hsbc.co.uk.

Branch and phone offer:

0% interest on purchases for 12 months
4.9% interest on balance transfers until 31 January 2012* (2.5% balance transfer fee)
Typical 15.9% standard APR

Online offer:

0% interest on balance transfers for 12 months* (2.5% balance transfer fee)
0% on purchases for 3 months from account opening.
Typical 15.9% APR

HSBC’s head of consumer cards, Spencer May, said: “Our research shows that our customers’ behaviour varies according to how they apply for a card, we have seen a clear difference between the needs of our branch and online customers, particularly in relation to introductory offers. With this knowledge we have tailored our two new offers to meet their differing needs.”

Furthermore, Which?’s recent super-complaint to the OFT investigating the variations of interest charging methods on credit cards highlighted that HSBC charged customers the least amount of interest when compared to other credit cards with the same APR.

*All balance transfers need to be made within 30 days of the account being opened.
