Cuts to interest-free period by credit card providers

21st October 2008 Print
Paul Green, Head of Communications, Saga Group Ltd, commenting on research by uSwitch.com that some credit card providers are to shorten the interest-free period offered on their credit cards, said: "At a time when many people are trying to economise it is a shame that some credit card providers are trying to pass on increased costs to hard-pressed consumers in what some might call an under-hand manner.

Some may be prepared to short-change their customers - but Saga has no plans to cut the 55 interest-free days available on purchases made with the Saga Platinum Visa Card. In addition we are committed to retaining a fair order of payment that ensures that after interest and fees are paid the most expensive debt is cleared first."
