PayPal’s prepaid card wins top accolade at cards ‘Oscars’
The Card Awards, which are open to UK and Irish payment card issuers and acquirers, recognise best practice in the card payment industry. The winners are chosen on demonstration of strategy, creativity, transparency, value to customers and commercial results by an independent judging panel, which comprises representatives from the payment card organisations and industry commentators and experts.
The PayPal Top Up card is a reloadable VISA card and can be used almost anywhere the VISA symbol is displayed, in high street stores as well as websites. It gives people control over their spending, allowing them to pay as they go. It's also ideal for consumers who do not have credit or debit cards, and want some way to spend their cash online.
The PayPal Top-Up Card is one of the most competitive cards in the market, costing just £4.95 to get started. It is the only prepaid card which can be topped up online in 3 clicks via PayPal and can also be reloaded offline at Post Offices and PayPoint retail outlets across the country. The card is particularly suited for people who sell online, as it enables them to spend the balances stored on their PayPal account offline.
The award was made to PayPal and Royal Bank of Scotland, the issuer of the PayPal Top Up Card, at The Card Awards ceremony in London on 5 February 2009.
Carl Scheible, Managing Director of PayPal UK commented, "We are delighted that the PayPal Top Up Card has been recognised as the best new prepaid card by industry experts at The Card Awards. The card has proved a big hit with customers, enabling them to pay with PayPal on the high street as well as online. It's also an easy way to keep track on your spending at a time when many people are on a very tight budget."
