The award-winning Abbey Zero credit card returns to the market on Monday 11 May, offering customers fee-free foreign usage on their spending abroad and an introductory 0 per cent rate on balance transfers for 12 months. The card also offers an introductory 0 per cent rate on purchases for three months and has no fee for cash advances, making it ideal for those rare times borrowers might need to take out cash in an emergency.
Roger Lovering, Managing Director of Abbey Credit Cards, said: "We are delighted to bring back the popular Zero card in time for the summer holiday season. Zero is the only credit card on the high street with no foreign exchange fee, helping to make holiday spending less expensive because unlike other cards, it doesn't charge a percentage fee on transactions made in a foreign currency. Its fee-free credentials apply on an ongoing basis too, as part of our commitment to offer our customers ongoing value and innovative and cost effective spending options.
"Offering an introductory balance transfer rate of 0 per cent for 12 months, 0 per cent on purchases for three months and no fee for cash advances, Zero really is the ultimate all-rounder."
Michelle Slade of Moneyfacts commented: "The relaunch of the Abbey Zero card is fantastic news for customers who are looking to cut down on their costs when using their card abroad this holiday season. In recent months, other providers have increased such charges, but with the Zero card, no foreign exchange or cash advance fees are charged. Coupled with a long balance transfer deal, this card will have a wide appeal to customers."
Andrew Hagger of Moneynet.co.uk commented: "Whilst 12 months interest free on balance transfers is a competitive offer, the real strength of the Zero card is no additional fees on foreign transactions. British holidaymakers heading overseas will be hit hard by the weakness of sterling this year so the ability to make purchases without the usual 2.75 per cent plus fee will give a much needed boost to the holiday kitty."
Zero is available in branch, over the telephone or online. A fee of 3 per cent (minimum £5) applies to balance transfers.
