Nations mood to save rises
The mood to save has risen for the third year in a row, according to Legal & General’s MoneyMood Survey. The mood to save was higher in February compared to the same month in previous years. MoneyMood shows 64 per cent of adults in the UK were in the mood to save at the end of February compared to only 56 per cent in 2005. The mood to spend is the lowest level for February, at only 24 per cent of adults questioned, over the same period.
Claire Stracey, Director, Customer Marketing, Legal & General commented: “These latest figures show the ‘MoneyMood’ of the nation is firmly in ‘save’ mode as we enter the ISA market this year. MoneyMood also found that the percentage of households who said they have money to spend after paying bills and debt payments has not changed over the three years. That’s good news as it shows that the majority of households (58 per cent) are in a position to save rather than struggling to make ends meet.”
