Wonder women are super at savings

5th September 2007 Print
Abbey’s new super range of savings products are attracting women to saving and investing, according to Abbey Saving’s new openings data. Over 58 per cent of accounts in the new super range are opened by women – significantly in excess of the national trend in which 52 per cent of savings accounts are held by women.

However, men still hold higher balances – holding an average of £100 more than women in their accounts.

Abbey’s Super range pioneers the use of combination products involving strong cash rates combined with guaranteed structured investment vehicles. The way these products are designed allows for highly attractive rates combined with capital guarantees.

Abbey is launching a major branch advertising campaign in September, to highlight the benefits of saving into its Super range. Abbey today also announces the launch of its 50 per cent Growth Plan for investors who wish to gain some exposure to the stock market, but do not want the risk of losing their capital.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, Head of Savings and Investments at Abbey, said: “It is positive that our groundbreaking Super range is encouraging more people to save be it women or men. We believe that it is important that as many as possible start saving early for their future and as tax efficiently as possible.”
