Abbey defies base rate cut on leading savings accounts

Following the decrease in the Bank of England Base Rate from 5.25 per cent to 5.00 per cent, Abbey will be changing its variable savings rates from 1 May 2008. The following accounts will be maintaining their rates at current levels:-

Instant Access Saver
ESaver Direct
50+ Saver (top tier for balances above £750,000)
Super 50+ (from balances of £1 To £49,999)

All other accounts/ tiers will be reduced by 0.25 per cent on 1 May 2008.
