uSwitch.com adds savings and travel insurance comparison
uSwitch.com, the independent price comparison and switching website, is expanding its range of services, with the launch of two new comparison channels - savings and travel insurance. Both channels are now live on the uSwitch.com website. The new channels follow the successful launches of mortgages, home insurance and life insurance earlier this year.
The savings channel will enable consumers to search and compare over 1,000 accounts, including cash ISAs, savings accounts (instant access and notice), fixed rate accounts, regular deposit accounts, children's accounts, child trust funds and accounts for the over 50's. Consumers are able to search for a competitive savings product and complete the application process online for many of these accounts.
A direct link to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme website is also featured on the site, which outlines the level of protection consumers will receive when they open a savings account in the UK.
Consumers will now also be able to compare and buy from a range of policies on the new travel insurance channel. These include annual and single trip, golf cover, backpacker's insurance, wedding cover and winter sports. It will also offer extreme sports cover for thrill seekers looking to enjoy higher risk activities, such as abseiling and hang gliding.
uSwitch.com has teamed up with aggregator site, Drakefield, part of the AA/Saga Group, to provide the travel service. It will use a panel of 12 suppliers, comprising a mixture of brokers and insurers. These include the AA, Admiral and Essential travel.
Louise Bond, Personal Finance Manager, at uSwitch.com says: "The new channels are testament to our growth at uSwitch.com and our commitment to providing consumers with a full range of products. Adding savings and travel insurance to our site are part of our ongoing drive to support consumers looking to cut costs or get better value for money.
"It isn't all about cutting costs however, and this is particularly true with savings accounts. In recent weeks we have seen the issue of savings become a global one, with the government increasing deposit protection from £35,000 to £50,000 as a direct result. While ensuring you get the best return for your money as you save, in the current economic climate it is absolutely vital that consumers are reassured, and are aware of what protection they have when they open a savings account. uSwitch.com has responded to these concerns, and the new channel directs all potential savers to the full details of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) website outlining the governments saving guarantee."
uSwitch.com already offers price comparison and information on the following products and services: gas and electricity, heating cover, water, broadband, mobile phones, digital TV, bundles, home phone, car insurance, home insurance, life insurance, credit cards, mortgages, loans, savings and ISAs and current accounts.
