Halifax offers another commission-free sharetrading day

5th December 2007 Print
Private investors looking to build on their existing portfolios in the run-up to Christmas are being given a special Yuletide gift from Halifax Share Dealing in the shape of a commission-free share purchase day on 19 December 2007.

The usual fee of £11.95 is being scrapped for this limited period on all online purchases of UK securities.

In addition to existing customers, the free trading day is open to anyone new* to Halifax who does not already have a share dealing account and covers the online purchase of any UK stock, including the smaller companies quoted on AIM.

This is the second time Halifax Share Dealing has offered a free trade day – the last was in June this year when the company celebrated its tenth birthday.

Halifax Share Dealing is now one of the leading execution-only brokers in the UK with a rapidly growing client base which totals nearly one million customers.

Sue Concannon, Halifax Share Dealing managing director, said: “When we ran our last free trading day in June, our customers really took advantage of the offer and it was enormously popular.

"We think it is important that our offers are available to new customers as well as existing, particularly when many providers make ‘new customers only’ promotions. Like our current free Halifax ShareBuilder offer, this demonstrates our commitment to providing easy affordable access to everyone.”

How to register and start purchasing for free

Private investors can open a share dealing account online at halifax.co.uk/sharedealing, and simply need their bank account details, National Insurance number and address details for the last three years.

Once the account is opened, customers will be sent a pack including a personal reference number. A PIN is sent separately. Once the account is activated, using the personal reference number and PIN, customers can then trade in seven of the world’s largest international markets through a Sterling account.

* Subject to allowing adequate time to register, open and fund an account.
