Barclays Wealth reissues Super Tracker with new S&P 500 option
Barclays Wealth is reissuing its popular Super Tracker with a new additional option for investors seeking to accelerate future gains from the US stock market.Launching on 9 May, the Super Tracker is a three- or five-year investment offering geared exposure to the FTSE 100 or - as from this issue of the five-year version - the S&P 500 index.
The new S&P option, which has been introduced following a recent BW survey which revealed strong IFA interest for a US-linked protected investment, offers four times the first 22.5% rise in the S&P 500, subject to a maximum return of 90%.
The three-year FTSE 100-linked option offers investors four times the first 12.5% rise in the index up to a maximum return of 50%, while the five-year option offers four times the first 25% rise in the FTSE with a maximum return of 100%.
All three options will repay investors' full capital unless their respective index falls by more than 50 per cent at any time during the term and remains lower than its starting level at the maturity date, in which case capital is lost 1:1 with the index. If the investment is sold before maturity, investors may get back less than they invested.
Lisa Chaudhuri, manager, Barclays Wealth, says: "We are constantly seeking to enhance our investment range and our recent research clearly showed that advisers have a desire to diversify and are receptive to a protected link to the performance of the S&P 500. The Super Tracker is the perfect vehicle through which to offer US exposure and we believe this addition will further enhance the appeal of an investment which has been rapidly growing in popularly in recent months."
