Government drive to increase flexible working for families

15th May 2008 Print
Commenting on the Government's drive to increase flexible working for families, Kate Syred, Head of Direct Line for Business, said: "The Government is proposing several initiatives to encourage parents to improve their work-life balance, including setting up their own business.

"People who are setting up their own businesses from home should be aware that they may not be covered by their home contents insurance. Most home policies exclude business conducted at home. We suggest that aspiring entrepreneurs review their insurance policies as they may need a home business policy which covers product and public liability plus theft or accidental damage to stock or specialist equipment.

"Without the relevant insurance, home businesses will not be covered for business lost as a result of an incident in the home. People should also be aware of their liability to their clients for the products and services they provide."

Direct Line for Business offers a home business policy which also includes a 24 hour advice line for emergency assistance and legal advice - directlineforbusiness.co.uk
