Employers' liability compulsory insurance regulations

7th October 2008 Print
Kate Syred, Head of Direct Line for Business, comments on the changes to the Employers' Liability Compulsory Insurance Regulations: "We welcome the change of the ELCI rules that came into play on Wednesday 1st October, which recognises the changing face of workplaces today, especially with many businesses now employing staff who work remotely. Being able to display employers' liability insurance certificates online will ensure these types of businesses can now easily and efficiently meet the legal requirement to display their certificate of cover to all relevant staff members.

"The second change to the legislation means employers will no longer be legally obliged to keep a copy of their employers' liability insurance certificates for 40 years, lightening the admin load for businesses.

"However, we would urge all business owners to continue to keep their insurance certificates and admin in order to ensure their policies are up to date so that they can continue to comply with the latest legislation."
