Celebrity style is in the bag this Autumn

8th November 2006 Print
www.kennethcole.com It’s not always easy to emulate celebrity looks when the most coveted items are usually those that bear the heftiest price tags - anyone for a Hermès Birkin bag, a snip at £3,500, or a Chloé Paddington for just £799 perhaps?! And whilst high street stores do a great job of re-interpreting designer styles, there are times when we want the kudos of owning the genuine article and only the “real-deal” will do.

After scouring the internet in-search of a new day-time bag, I came across the Kenneth Cole New York website. Whilst UK consumers may be new to this brand, let me assure you that it’s a firm favorite amongst A-list celebrities including Jessica Alba. Kenneth Cole’s appeal is largely due to the company’s reputation for providing superb ranges of up-market casual-wear and stylish yet affordable accessories. Originally a retailer of quality footwear, the brand has seen rapid growth since it’s conception 20 years ago and now incorporates clothing, accessory, fragrance and eyewear lines, along with an advertising campaign fronted by rock-superstar Bon Jovi.

However, what I love about the website is that it features a Celebrity Gallery with photographs of A-listers wearing various Kenneth Cole apparel. Teri Hatcher, Charlize Theron and Sharon Stone are all captured sporting the Hudson Hobo – a roomy carry-all bag perfect for day-time use and made from beautiful grainy leather with metal rivet detailing. There’s a choice of rustic hews and the Hudson is also available in patent leather for those seeking a more sophisticated style of hobo. What’s more, the bag is priced at $398.00 (or approximately £212.00) – which may not be “cheap” by high-street standards, but does represent excellent value for money for a luxury item that will last for years and also carries true celebrity endorsement!

The Hudson Rivet 5, Medium Hobo is available online at www.kennethcole.com.
