Fashion on a shoestring

Fall footwear is all about the lace-up. Lace up shoes and boots spell many things. Black lace-up ankle boots instantly call to mind strict Victorian governesses, while aggressive soled army boots are the territory of both punks and Goths.

Hobnails and hiking boots, meanwhile, are built for a tight grip on treacherous terrain and anything that laces past the knee is conclusively kinky. From Gaultier to Daks to Prada to Diesel and beyond, the fall catwalks showed lace-ups in every guise.
