Making Headway – West Row Hairdressing

Leading Yorkshire salon group West Row Hairdressing has been putting the hours in on the session circuit this month. Creative Director Steve Rowbottom is the man responsible for the gorgeous looks in L’Oreal’s new advertorial campaigns for Vogue and Elle, and has also been busy on his first shoot for the Hempz haircare brand, for who he’s been appointed European Creative Director ­ watch this space for the first stunning collection.

Following Nicola Hulatt’s success in reaching the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Grand Final, the Wetherby salon star headed off to Battersea’s Graduate Fashion Week with the L’Oreal i.d. Artistic Team to work backstage on the hair for the hectic schedule of catwalk shows. She then joined the rest of the West Row Artistic Team, led by Steve Rowbottom, to create stunning looks for the annual Leeds College of Art, Fashion & Design Graduate Week fashion show, where candy-floss hair and ponytails were in full effect.

Nicola is also profiled in this month’s industry bible Creative HEAD, with a four-page feature tipping her as an industry name to watch. 23-year-old Nicola (below, with Trevor Sorbie) has seen her images grace 2 magazine covers this year already ­ her new collection is also coming soon’

Meanwhile, work on the hugely successful Wetherby salon’s expansion is progressing and the brand new floor will be launched in late summer, with 5 extra styling positions and 2 backwashes.

The Ilkley salon, headed up by Sasha Hunter (named by Harpers & Queen as the best stylist for occasion hair in Yorkshire!) is holding a pampering evening on July 26.
