Spring clean your hair regime With the Spring/Summer collections hitting the high street and the sunshine on its way, our wardrobes are all but taken care of - but it's fabulous hair that can make or break a look. Spring clean your hair regime with seasonal trends and styling tips from Gliss Style Consultant Jonathan Long.

The Spring/Summer collections have hit the high street and with the sunshine, fake bake and flip flops comes the need to look and feel re-refreshed from top to toe. The Spring and Summer months can be punishing on your hair with drying UV rays, salt, chlorine, highlights and some serious heat styling taking you through days in the office, to the beach and into the long summer nights.

Even a great hairstyle can be let down by not-so-healthy hair so don’t just revamp your wardrobe, spring clean your hair regime to ensure you get the most from your locks, with looks that will take you from the beach to the boardroom effortlessly.

Jonathan Long, Gliss Style Consultant, runs through the key looks for the season and shares his top tips for maintaining great looking hair.

"This Spring and Summer we're going to see a big trend for beach chic - a slightly messed up, sand-in-your-hair type of look. Another big look is going to be short blonde hair à la Angness Deyn - such a stunning style, and easy to look after. If you're thinking of bleaching your hair, just make sure you use a good shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for coloured hair - I like Colour Protect 30 from Gliss.

“Like all their shampoos and conditioners, the intelligent Scan Repair Complex identifies and repairs only the damaged areas of the hair without over-treating or weighing it down – it retains hair colour up to 90% even after 30 applications.”

“For those with longer hair, fringes are still going to be very fashionable this Summer and for 'going out' hair, French twists or chignons will be popular, but loose and slightly messy - as if you haven't spent hours in the salon. If you're going for this look, make sure you look after your hair by treating it with lots of conditioner and a spray of Gliss Shine Tonic will ensure you still have glossy locks, without very much effort at all. It's my secret weapon and I always carry it around in my kitbag for shoots.

“The sunshine months herald wedding season and naturally everyone from the bride to the wedding guests want to look really fabulous for a wedding. I recommend preparing the hair with lots of conditioner and deep penetrating treatments for a few weeks before the big day. This is particularly important if you have dry, damaged hair, but you don’t necessarily need a bespoke treatment, try the Gliss Total Repair 19 conditioner and leave it on overnight for an intensive treatment that will enhance shine, leaving hair silky smooth.

“Glossy, shiny hair that glows with health is one of the best looks if you’re trying to achieve superb summer hair, and my favourite product, the Gliss Shine Tonic, is formulated with a balanced Active Complex to protect hair from drying out, leaving hair more supple and with exceptional shine, without weighing it down. It’s so light that it can be used throughout the day so you can shine right through the day and night and protect and repair your hair from the damage caused by sun and saltwater.

“A lovely natural, fresh look for summer is soft tousled curls and won’t require any maintenance throughout the day. To create soft waves in mid-length to long hair, wash with Gliss Liquid Silk to ensure you hair is shiny and glossy, rough dry and then curl a section of hair around two fingers and pin with a hair grip, leave until the last minute, then remove the grips, turn your head upside down and gently run your fingers through the hair”.

All Gliss products contain the intelligent SCAN REPAIR COMPLEX which is able to scan the hair and repair and treat only damaged areas without overburdening and weighing down healthy areas.

Gliss products are available at Boots, Superdrug, J Sainsbury, Morrisons, Savers, Bodycare and leading independent chemists.
