Errol Douglas helps to give young women a life makeover

Celeb hairstylist Errol Douglas MBE is well known for his charity work – as well as being a UK Ambassador for UNESCO’s Hairdressers Against AIDS charity Errol likes to lend his time to raising money and awareness for those in need. Tuesday April 22nd saw Errol at Centrepoint in London to cut and style the hair of 10 young women from Centrepoint's youth homelessness services as part of a make-over with Elizabeth Arden cosmetics.

They also received an inspirational ‘mind makeover’ designed by expert business consultant and life coach, Sharron Lowe, to encourage them to focus on personal aspirations, action planning and positive thinking.

Says British Hairdresser nominee Errol, "This is the third year I've been involved with the project and it's great to see these young women feeling happy and confident about themselves. People become homeless for many reasons and it’s heartbreaking to hear some of their stories. To give them 100% 'me' time is really rewarding and fulfilling for me as a hairdresser. They were all beautiful, and deserved to feel that way as well."

One of the participants, Saron, from Centrepoint’s Salter’s City Foyer, London, said: “I absolutely loved it! Both makeovers really gave us girls the confidence to come out of our shells. We all learned so much and it has inspired me, in spite of my circumstances now, to write down my goals for the future and be positive and confident and start every day with a smile!”

Sharron Lowe said: “In creating the ‘Mind Makeover Workshop’ I become the young women’s very own personal life and Success Coach. Along with Jo Fairley and Anna De Vere we share success tips to show the young women how to release the vast potential that is within each of them. By taking conscious control over their thoughts to make them positive and by focusing on their goals and aspirations, they can begin to move towards who they want to become.”
