Tara Smith styles Marisa Tomei’s BAFTA hair

Celebrity and A-list hair stylist, Tara Smith, created the hair look for BAFTA nominee Marisa Tomei, nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Wrestler. Marisa is a long-time client for Tara, who also counts Demi Moore, Anna Friel, Natalie Imbruglia, Nicole Kidman, Kristen Davis, Rosario Dawson, Patricia Arquette and many more among her CV.

Tara worked with Marisa prior to filming on The Wrestler to develop her look for the role; for the subsequent promotions she has been switching between a sleek up-do, a beautiful blow out and a clip in fringe – an instant solution to a hair makeover. Tara says “I blow dried the hair out using Tara Smith Base Coat Serum so it was really smooth, then pulled it back and slightly to the side and braided the ponytail part of it. The braided instead of plain twist gives it a different texture and look. I sprayed with a little hairspray to stop it being slippy; then twisted it around into a bun. At the parting, 4 inches back from the hairline, I backcombed it all a little so it didn't look too neat and slick, with more of a catwalk finish and a slightly fuzzy look. To finish, I pulled the hair back, making it tight at the sides, but not too neat, as this keeps it soft and feminine.”
