Recreate A-list hair with tips from Tara Smith A-list hairdresser Tara Smith, voted Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year at the Clothes Show Style Awards by thousands in a public vote, is currently in New York to style Lucy Liu for two events.

The first was legendary eyewear brand, Persol’s debut 'Incognito Design Exhibition' at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Says Tara, “I started with a blow out but with the dress it was too much, so I pulled it back to show her neck off. I applied Tara Smith Base Coat Serum as primer, blow dried through using two round vent brushes to give a kick, and rolled in Velcro rollers as I went.

“Lucy’s hair is incredible and it holds curl really well. I sectioned it giving it lots of root lift and sprayed in bumble and bumble styling lotion at the root. When I finished I took the rollers out and ran my fingers through to give it more volume. I took a side ponytail at nape of neck, leaving a piece of hair out and tying around the band. The pieces at the front are long bangs to frame the face and give softness. I finished with Tara Smith Top Coat Glosser.”

The second event was the Grand opening of the New York City Swarovski Crystallized Concept store. Says Tara, “I started with an editorial up-do but it looked too ‘Oscars’ with the dress – for this sort of event it would have looked great with jeans and heels but too much with the dress. So, I took it down and side parted it, then took it clean back into a high ponytail.”

While Tara was in the UK earlier this month she also styled Sex & The City star Kim Cattrall for an event, giving her a soft blow out.

Tara’s natural and organic hair care range is now available more widely than ever with the products newly available in ASDA and online at bodycare2000.com in addition to Tesco and cultbeauty.co.uk.
