Vodkaology – For discerning drinkers

THE NUTTY PROFESSOR - Vodka University classes will be lectured by extrovert New Zealand Vodka Professor and encyclopaedia, Jacob Briars who travels the globe educating bartenders on vodka and spirits while mixing drinks for the rich and infamous. His drinks are so memorable that he has been thanked in a Golden Globes acceptance speech for Lord of the Rings by Elijah Wood.
THE CIRICULUM - Vodka U explains the differences between premium and super premium vodkas including a fascinating chronology of vodkas from 12th century to present day – how vodka became the world’s most popular spirit, why it was used as aftershave and body rub, who produced the first vodka - Poland or Russia and how the Moscow Mule was the first vodka cocktail to arrive in America in 1939.
Students are taken through a tasting of up to 15 premium and super premium vodkas, from Norway to New Zealand, including Stolichnaya, Wyborowa, Absolut, Finlandia, Belvedere, Ketel One, Grey Goose and 42 BELOW, covering the different styles of potato, wheat, barley, rye vodkas.
VODKA U AT HARVEY NICHOLS - tickets are £35 per person and include tutored tasting and a main course from the dinner a la carte menu at Harvey Nichols acclaimed PRISM Restaurant following the 2 hour course. Places are limited and made available on a first come first served basis.
