Hot tunes are the secret to a happy summer

Hot tunes are the secret to a happy summer New research released by Brasilian cane spirit Sagatiba has revealed how credit crunch Brits will be lifting their spirits this summer. The survey, which polled over 1,400 people, reveals that great weather and topping up the tan were less important than listening to uplifting music with mates, with only 20% of those surveyed stating that sunshine was key to a great summer.

Listening to music was identified as the top spirit lifting activity, with 60% of those surveyed stating it is the recipe for a happy summer, explaining why the UK’s holiday season revolves around festivals and pop concerts.

As a result of the research, Sagatiba has developed the unique Sagatiba Spirit Lifters service – a completely free mobile pop up party bringing the music and spirit of Brasil straight to your home or office.

The Sagatiba Spirit Lifters service includes top Brasilian MTV DJ, DJ Limao, a squad of buff capoeira dancers and Sagatiba’s head mixologist, who will whip up authentic Sagatiba Caipirinhas straight from the portable bar. So even if the sun doesn’t shine, you are guaranteed a taste of the Brasilian party spirit.

The survey also revealed a strong Latino influence, with Brasilian samba music being voted as one of the most uplifting musical genres, coming second only to pop which won 50% of the vote. Samba knocked the more mainstream R&B, dance and Indie music down to the bottom of the table, making it more popular than the likes of Blur and Rihanna. The UK also looks to our Latino cousins for party pointers, with Spain and Brasil being voted by 1 in 2 people as the countries that most encapsulate the summer party spirit.

The UK’s top five spirit lifting activities were voted as:

1. Listening to music
2. Having a barbeque
3. Sharing a summer drink with friends
4. Sunbathing
5. Finding love

The Sagatiba Spirit Lifters service will be available to book online at sagatibaspirit.com from 18th June 2009.
