Local home buyers and art-lovers rubbed shoulders at the official opening of an innovative show home with a twist.

Award winning house builder Redrow has teamed up with south west-based photographer Esmond Holden to transform a furnished show home into a very special photographic exhibition.

Redrow’s new homes development, Tiddy Brook Meadows in Tavistock, is the unusual setting for a unique display of photographs, which have been hung around the fabulous three-storey, four-bedroom Ouse show home.

Esmond Holden says: “As I am based in the south west I was delighted to accept Redrow’s invitation to display my work in the show home at Tiddy Brook Meadows. I especially enjoyed doing the photographs of Dartmoor that feature in the home. Some people think that it’s simply a bleak, barren windswept expanse but it’s really a lush fertile place and some of the images that I captured there are among my favourites in the collection.”

The display also features an evocative black and white image of the Tavistock landscape with Redrow’s own hot air balloon hovering above and picked out in ‘Redrow red’ – a shot taken at last year’s Westcountry Balloon Fiesta.

Esmond’s work can be found throughout the show home and Redrow’s interior designers have also transformed one of the bedrooms into a photographer’s studio to demonstrate the versatility of properties like the Ouse, where spacious accommodation is arranged over three floors.

Ed White, sales director for Redrow Homes (West Country), says: “Visitors will be able to enjoy Esmond’s excellent work as they stroll through the new show home and, by transforming one of the bedrooms into a photo studio; we are helping to demonstrate the flexibility of modern homes.

“In the Ouse, the usually redundant roof space is cleverly converted into two bedrooms, whilst the master bedroom with en-suite, bedroom two and the family bathroom are on the middle floor. This kind of layout is ideal for families who can create a children’s ‘den’ on the top floor and also for professional couples who want to use spare rooms as a gym, home office – or to pursue a hobby like photography.”

Photographer Esmond attended the launch to talk about his work and also took portrait photographs of customers who have already reserved a new home.

In addition to the fabulous Ouse show home, Redrow opened the doors to two further professionally designed, decorated and furnished show properties to impress those on the lookout for their dream home.

The three-bedroom Hayward comes with an en-suite bathroom and separate dining area and has been decorated in a palette of duck egg blue, white and grey, providing appeal for young couples and small families.

The third of the show homes is the Tamar house type. This has been decorated to create a feeling of ‘understated chic’, incorporating a palette of creams and caramels to create a sumptuous home fit for families and downsizers.

This showcases a wide range of purchaser’s options which Redrow can make available, from to modern style doors and architraves to enhanced kitchens and bathrooms.

Properties at Tiddy Brook Meadows are currently priced from £161,950 for a two-bed apartment, while three-bedroom homes come with a £199,995 start price. A three-storey, four-bedroom Ouse, similar to the show home, is priced from £259,995.

Tavistock itself is the largest town in West Devon and lies on the south-west edge of Dartmoor National Park , about 15 miles north of Plymouth, offering good opportunities for employment, shopping and leisure.
