Persimmon provides homes for feathered friends

Leading house builder Persimmon Homes helped create homes for some more unusual residents recently, with the sponsorship of two of its namesake Persimmon trees at East Devon tourist attraction, Escot Country Park and Gardens.

It is expected that the Persimmon trees at Escot will attract both nesting birds and squirrels. The company also provided materials to help create nesting boxes for Britain’s only species of native squirrels, the red squirrel.

Alongside the donation to Escot, Persimmon Homes also creates opportunities for wildlife to nest at new homes developments across the region. Staff were recently delighted to discover a pair of white doves nesting in a Barn Owl box which had been integrated into the garage of a property at Whitecross Gardens in Seaton. Indeed, so keen were the doves to live at Whitecross Gardens that they had moved into their new nest before the purchasers had occupied the house!

“We are currently building a wide range of properties across East Devon and believe encouraging local wildlife is crucial to creating lasting new communities,” commented Diana Newman, field sales manager for Persimmon Homes South West. “Many people love to watch and feed birds and other wildlife and we hope our work onsite and with Escot will provide members of the local community with much joy over the coming years.”

For house hunters of the non-feathered variety, Persimmon currently has two properties remaining at its popular Kings Heath VII development in Exeter. A three bedroom semi detached Berkshire home is available for £209,995 and a three bedroom Kingston terraced townhouse is on the market for £229,995. With all of the homes now sold at Persimmon’s other developments in East Devon – St Cyres View and Whitecross Gardens - Kings Heath VII provides the final opportunity to move into a Persimmon in East Devon this summer.
