On site with Marlborough Street School For some pupils every day at school is just like the other, but not for pupils at Marlborough Street School in Devonport, Plymouth. A class, aged 7 years old, from the school visited Midas Homes and Devon and Cornwall Housing Association's affordable housing development off Queen Street this week. Pupils were given a grand tour of the site, which is just being completed, by site manager, Eric Doel. The pupils were shown work being carried out on site and were then shown around a completed home.

Marlborough Street School is a school for girls and boys aged three to 11 years and there are currently 160 pupils at the Morice Square based school.

Jack Griffiths, headteacher of Marlborough Street School said: "The children were so excited when they had returned from the trip and from the teachers' point of view it was an incredibly worthwhile experience. We have one pupil who is actually moving into the development, so she was thrilled."

Eric Doel, site manager for the Queen Street development, said: "As we are building nearby we thought the children might find it interesting to see how the homes were built and we were extremely impressed with how well they behaved."

Midas Homes is an established housebuilder in the South West and is currently building 50@Drake Circus and Phoenix Quay in Plymouth. The company has also just started work on the demolition of a new scheme, which will regenerate the Ker Street area of Plymouth and will provide new homes for the Devonport community.
