Tom Maddock (22), who is in the Royal Air Force, and his partner Sophie Downes (22), moved into a brand new Guernsey apartment at Panorama just in time for Christmas.

“Our new home is ideal as I’m based near Newquay and it’s very easy to commute to work,” said Tom. “We love the interior as it’s very modern and spacious, with two double bedrooms and a lounge/diner, and we also have a parking space outside.

“The Barratt sales team was fantastic,” Tom continued. “We were originally going to move to another site and the sale fell through, but Barratt told us about this apartment at Panorama, which is in a lovely location.

“Also, the Dream Start initiative was a very big help, particularly in the current economic climate. Sophie and I were renting before, so it’s great to be able to buy a home of our own,” Tom concluded.

The Dream Start scheme is designed especially for first-time buyers, who only have to arrange mortgage finance on 75 per cent of their new home’s purchase price. The other 25 per cent is covered by Barratt and repayable interest free, either within 10 years or on the resale of the property.

Panorama is a cul-de-sac development of two-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom houses. As the name implies, the site enjoys views over the distant river Plym to the rolling hillside beyond.
