Site manager cements commitment to new homes

The 54-year old site manager at Redrow’s Tiddy Brook Meadows, in Tavistock, is celebrating winning a ‘Quality’ award in the National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job initiative.
The award comes seven years afters after Ken made a career jump from commercial housing to concentrate on building private homes. He will now find out in October if he has won a coveted ‘Seal of Excellence’. The annual award scheme will then culminate with the announcement of the four overall Supreme Award winners at a gala ceremony in London in January 2010.
Ken, who began his career as a mason won the latest honour for his work at Tiddy Brook Meadows, a development of two, three and four-bedroom homes situated in the popular Devon town of Tavistock.
He has worked as a site manager for Redrow for three years overseeing work at a number of developments throughout the South West. He is joined at Tiddy Brook Meadows by his son Paul, who works as an assistant site manager.
He was one of only 406 site managers from 13,000 across the UK to win an NHBC ‘Quality’ award this year and one of seven Redrow site managers enjoying success. Ken’s achievement reflects the calibre of his site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.
Ken, who lives in Launceston with his wife, Liz, and son Paul, says: “I am thrilled to win this award. It’s not just a reflection of my hard and dedication but that of the whole team involved in making Tiddy Brook Meadows such an attractive and sought-after development.”
The homes built under Ken’s care at Tiddy Brook Meadows enjoy a semi-rural location but are still conveniently located near to the shops and restaurants in central Tavistock.
