New look for an old sportsman at Betjeman Gardens, Chorleywood

The exterior of the former Sportsman Hotel Overlooking the lush Chess Valley, yet only 30 minutes out of central London, Kebbell Homes has launched an exciting development of superb apartments at Betjeman Gardens in Chorleywood.

Betjeman Gardens comprises three apartment buildings, including the conversion of the former Sportsman Hotel opposite Chorleywood station. This is a handsome Edwardian building and a much loved feature of the Chorleywood street scene, restored with care into 11 individually-designed apartments offering one, two or three bedrooms.

In addition there are two handsome new buildings, one of which features a sunny terrace to each of the six apartments, taking full advantage of the glorious south facing views over manicured grounds and the Chess Valley beyond.

The other new building is a strikingly contemporary addition to this community, which ‘borrows’ features from the historic Edwardian detailing of The Sportsman, translating them into a 21st century architectural language.

The internal specification of the apartments is inspired by the design and appearance of the building which contains it. The Sportsman features a fusion of historic and contemporary styling, with kitchens by Johnson and Johnson in heritage colours, complemented by granite work surfaces, whilst the two new buildings incorporate high-gloss Alno units, with polished chrome switch plates and coordinating granite.

“Whether you like living in a building with a historical character, or a strongly contemporary building, Betjeman Gardens has something to offer. These homes are built with care to an exceptional specification and located in a beautiful setting. It is an easy journey to London with the rail link direct to Marylebone a stone’s throw from the front door! Says Kebbell Homes’ Sales and Marketing Director, Gin Roaf. “Wehave now opened the main entrance to Betjeman Gardens, off Common Road bringing visitors through a lovely avenue of trees into the development – a fitting welcome to this unique project.”

Prices for the apartments start from £410,000 for a two bedroom apartment in the converted hotel, rising to £600,000 for a stunning three bedroom penthouse apartment within the new buildings.

Chorleywood itself is one of the most sought-after villages in Hertfordshire, having been rated the parish with the best quality of life in the country in a recent national survey. As well as the well-kept gardens within the development itself, local residents have access to 200 acres of unspoilt open space known as the Common, with plenty of delightful country pubs around the area.
