Kebbell Homes raise the roof at Wheathampstead WI Watford-based housebuilder Kebbell Homes has recently agreed to support a restoration project to repair the roof of Mead Hall on Meads Lane, used by members of the Wheathampstead Women's Institute.

Kebbell Homes has donated £1000 to the project which is due to be completed over the next few weeks. The WI which is in its 87th year uses the building as its meeting point.

Other groups that currently use the building include the local drama group, dance group, quilters club, yoga group, farmers market, the local Women's Fellowship church group and the Badger group. The hall is also used for private functions and children's parties, putting it very much at the heart of the community.

Kebbell Homes is currently building a development of new homes on Meads Lanes called Meadow Mead. The project comprises six, four- and five-bedroom family homes all with contemporary and practical designs for modern 21st Century living.

Kathy Sanger, President of the Wheathampstead Women's Institute, said; "We are so pleased that Kebbell Homes has agreed to support the project to restore the hall roof, which is costing around £5000 in total.

"Our main aim is to repair and re-structure the roof which desperately needs restoring to make it safer for the community to carry on using it for years to come. The money will go towards the cost of building materials, new tiles and re-lining the roof of the building. A small amount will be saved to cover running costs throughout the coming year. We cannot thank Kebbell Homes enough for their generous donation."

Josie Howell, Sales Manager at Kebbell Homes said, "We were delighted when an individual of the Wheathampstead community approached us with this idea. We have really welcomed the project since it represents such a large part of the surrounding community."
Meadow Mead is an outstanding development of just six highly individual four- and five-bedroom homes. The development enjoys a peaceful position with gardens backing onto the banks of the River Lee.

Wheathampstead has a wide range of local amenities including a general store and post office whilst St Albans and Harpenden provide a diverse range of shops and exclusive designer stores. Further a field the affluent towns of Watford and Welwyn Garden City (a 30 minute drive) both offer indoor shopping centres and big name department stores such as John Lewis. Access into London is also effortless with the ‘Thames link' rail service operating from nearby Harpenden.

Prices at Meadow Mead start from £695,000 for a four-bedroom home and from £715,000 for a five-bedroom home. For more information log on to kebbell.co.uk.
