Barratt to host Homebuyers Show at Riverside Quarter

The Homebuyers Show will be a ‘one-stop shop’, with representatives from Barratt and Lea Valley Homes, plus solicitors and financial advisors, all on hand with advice and information on the various ways to buy a new home at its developments in the area including: Riverside Quarter in Bishop’s Stortford and Woolens Grove in Hoddesdon.
One of the buying schemes that is proving particularly popular with buyers is the Government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme, which gives purchasers the chance to move in to a new home for only 70 per cent of the purchase price. Barratt will match the Government’s funding pound for pound in the new venture to provide an equity loan to the homebuyer of up to 30 per cent. The buyer finances the remaining 70 per cent either through a mortgage, a deposit or a combination of the two. There is no interest to pay on the equity stake for the first five years, although a small fee will be charged from year six onwards.
The scheme is open to first time buyers, key workers and others who are currently renting. People who have previously owned a home but are now unable to do so – perhaps where relationships have broken down – can also apply. Households eligible to take advantage of the offer will be earning less than £60,000 and would not normally be able to afford to buy a suitable property on the open market.
Chris Scarborough, sales director at Barratt North London, says: “We are offering Homebuy Direct on 32 homes at Riverside Quarter and 12 at Woolens Grove. However, these are selling fast and I would encourage anyone thinking of buying a new home to join us at Riverside Quarter on 26th September, where it’s possible to buy from as little as £105,000, to find out if they qualify for the scheme. We’ll also be able to advise on other opportunities such as part exchange and various incentives designed to suit buyers’ individual needs.”
Riverside Quarter is located on the banks of the River Stort and offers 105 one and two bedroom apartments. The homes, many of which have river views, are opposite the stylish new Jackson Square shopping mall, adjacent to Marks & Spencer and a large Sainsbury’s. Prices start from £150,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £225,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. The sales and marketing suite at Adderley Road, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 3AX is open Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am to 5.30pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm and Monday 2pm to 5.30pm, telephone 01279 503161.
Barratt’s recently launched Woolens Grove development in Hoddesdon is set to transform a former water reservoir site with 55, two-bedroom apartments.
Prices are from £182,500. The sales and marketing suite at Woolens Grove, Hertford Road, Hoddesdon, EN11 9BS is open Thursday to Sunday 10am to 6pm and Monday 2pm to 6pm.
