Save time, energy and cash with a new home

19th March 2008 Print
Buying a new home can mean big savings for home owners and the environment. More energy efficient, no costly upkeep, cheaper to run, kinder to the environment and protected by the National House Building Council (NHBC) 10-year Buildmark Warranty, buying new is probably a safer, more convenient investment than buying and renovating an old house, says award winning developer Redrow Homes.

According to Redrow’s group marketing director Simon Bennett, “Whilst at first glance a second hand home might appear to be cheaper, renovating an old house to the same standards as a new one could see you forking out over £20,000 - once the costs of a new kitchen and bathroom, new heating system, replacement windows, wiring and other updates are taken into account.”

Add that to the fact that buying new is potentially hassle-free, with no upward chain and no chance of being gazumped; plus companies like Redrow can offer a range of incentives to help people secure the home they want - and it makes you wonder why everyone doesn’t buy new.

Simon adds: “Redrow builds new homes all over the UK to suit all lifestyles. Whether you’re looking to up-size or down-size, or you’re a first time buyer trying to make your first step on the property ladder, Redrow offers a vast range from affordable starter homes to chic, city-centre apartments, elegant townhouses and detached family homes.

“And, as Redrow homes are all brand new, they carry all the quality, convenience, savings and peace of mind that benefit those who buy new.”

More efficient heating and insulation in new homes means they produce far less greenhouse gas and it makes them up to four times more energy efficient than older homes. This, according to a recent survey by British Gas, could mean a £1 saving for every £3 spent. Plus water bills are also likely to be lowerbecause new homes are replete with the latest water efficient fittings in addition to better drain and sewer systems that could reduce the risk of flooding.

Still not enough to tempt you to buy new? Then how about the thought of no more noisy neighbours? New properties are now being built to standards well above the minimum level set by the Government due to progression in sound insulation.

Or how about the lure of a blank canvas? You can start afresh with a new Redrow home, choosing from the ‘Indulge with Redrow’ selection of choices, upgrades and optional extras – making your home the one of your dreams. And no living with someone else’s bad taste in décor or DIY disasters!

As beautiful on the outside as on the inside, buying a new Redrow home is the most reassuring choice you can make, adds Simon: “Our homes are built to exacting standards using high quality materials. They feature carefully planned layouts that make the best possible use of available space and light, while interiors can be tailored to individual tastes via the ‘Indulge with Redrow’ choices menu.

“We also have our ‘re:assure with Redrow’ package, which includes a variety of measures all designed to help get people moving and make their move as easy and as comfortable as possible; whether that’s by helping them with their deposit or stamp duty, providing carpets and curtains for their new home, helping to sell their existing property so they can trade up or maybe even taking their old home in part-exchange for the ultimate easy move.”

As extra reassurance, for all reservations made before mid-May 2008, Redrow will even protect the value of its customers’ new homes for up to three years.*

Redrow builds around 5,000 new homes annually in England, Scotland and Wales.
