Townends embark on recruitment drive

In readiness for selective expansion plans, Townends are embarking on a recruitment drive to find the best agents in the business. Focusing mainly, but not solely, on the residential lettings side of the business, Townends plan to not only position more lettings departments within existing sales branches, but also to open further stand alone lettings offices and, in line with this expansion, will be looking to change the current management structure by recruiting a number of lettings area managers who will each be responsible for overseeing a small number of offices.

Catherine Darbon, Townends' Recruitment Manager, comments, “We believe that the demands of this current marketplace requires an even more robust recruitment process to ensure that we only recruit individuals with a solid agency history and proven track record. Our expectations of candidates will be greater and we will be looking for evidence of previous achievements."

Townends have already recognised that the current market has undoubtedly impacted on sales staff financially and have recently carried out an overhaul of their salary structures, administering significant increases in basic salaries and commission packages, enhanced monthly fuel allowances and incentives for staff to support their income streams by working with other areas of the business.
