Let George Wimpey get you on track with First ScotRail

18th September 2008 Print
Let George Wimpey get you on track with First ScotRail George Wimpey has forged a unique relationship with First ScotRail to offer their customers a free annual rail pass - worth up to £2,500 - when they purchase a new George Wimpey home at a wide range of developments throughout the west of Scotland.

This generous offer is the perfect proposition for George Wimpey customers who're keen to swap city-centre life for a spacious family home with a garden. The free annual rail pass is valid for journeys from a participating developments' local train station to many of Scotland's key cities and towns.

With a comprehensive network of developments across Scotland, complemented by an extensive local and regional rail network, both George Wimpey and First ScotRail are confident that this is an exceptionally beneficial and flexible offer that will appeal to a wide range of potential homebuyers. Typical journeys will include Ardrossan, Motherwell and Kilmarnock to Glasgow, as well as Greenock, Stewarton, Airdrie and Larkhall to Glasgow and even Kilmarnock to Ayr.

This offer will be equally as exciting for prospective customers who already make a regular commute, but who are perhaps considering delaying their decision to move due to the increased pressure being felt on the weekly family budgets as energy, food and fuel prices spiral upwards. With George Wimpey taking care of free rail travel for a whole year, these customers will be able to realise their dream of moving to a new home after all.

George Wimpey customers who take advantage of this offer will also be playing their part in reducing their carbon foot-print. They will save on fuel and travel costs, and could even consider giving up their car altogether!

Speaking at the launch of the incentive, Michelle Logie, sales and marketing director for George Wimpey West Scotland said: "Our innovative rail offer with First ScotRail will capture the imagination of buyers who're keen to work in the buzz of the city, but who're craving a bit more of a relaxed home-life with more space to call home.

"With George Wimpey taking care of customers' commuting costs for a whole year, it's one less cost for customers to worry about, plus we're encouraging our customers to think a bit greener to reduce their carbon foot-print and let the train take the strain.

"Crucially this offer is likely to reduce our customers' commute to work. Many of the typical journeys made from our developments could be made by train, and therefore buyers would save precious travelling time and avoid any unexpected delays on major commuter routes such as the M77 and M8. And because annual rail passes are also valid at weekends, customers can still make use of the train for leisure days out."

Peter Williams, commercial director at First ScotRail said: "We're delighted to be working with George Wimpey to deliver this unique offer which supports our ongoing drive to encourage more people to travel by train and leave their car at home.

"The benefits are considerable and provide customers with greater choice of where to set up home, coupled with easy access to convenient rail travel opportunities for both work and leisure."
