Oakley Vale ideal for first time home owners With recent statistics suggesting young people are staying at home until the age of 34, the idea of getting on that all important property ladder could seem like just a dream to many.

Figures released from a recent YouGov survey also show that nearly four in ten graduates don’t believe they can afford to buy their first property without a loan from their parents.

However in Corby, which is within commuting distance of the capital city, there are properties available for young couples eager to set up their own home, and the solution comes courtesy of national house builder, Redrow.

The house builder has a number of starter homes at its Oakley Vale development, perfect for spring boarding people out of the family base and into one of their own.

Mary Timlin, sales director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), says: “The average age of a first time buyer is ever increasing and people are finding it much more difficult to establish themselves on the property ladder until later in life.

“Our starter properties at Oakley Vale in Corby are at a price that is easily affordable and perfect for first time buyers.”

Among the homes currently on release is the Canterbury, a two storey mews property, priced at £129,995. It features two spacious bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, while the ground floor is home to a kitchen, cloak room and a spacious rear-facing living and dining area which boasts patio doors onto the garden.

Oakley Vale is a development of 141 new properties set on the edge of a popular residential area. The development offers something for everyone, from one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom homes, ideal for people looking for their first home, to a selection of three, four and five-bedroom homes perfect for families, or for those who simply want that little more space.

Mary adds: “Along with the other developers at Oakley Vale, we are helping to create a whole new community. One that has all the amenities a young couple, growing family, or empty nester could need. It will eventually feature almost 3,000 new homes, and already boasts its own shopping precinct and primary schools as well as large areas of open spaces.

“Secondary to that, the area is perfect for commuters, with easy access to the motorway network and major A-roads, providing links to the cities of Leicester, Peterborough, Northampton and beyond, while train links from nearby Kettering station provide journey times to London St Pancras of just over an hour.”

Close to Corby’s bustling town, yet surrounded by Northamptonshire’s exceptional countryside, known as Rockingham Forest, Oakley Vale offers the perfect balance of town and country.
