First time buyers make quick and ‘easymove’

First time buyers make quick and ‘easymove’ Peter Mason and Clare Meaton didn’t believe they could sell their three-bedroom semi in Rushden before Christmas. “The market has slowed and we weren’t having any luck finding a buyer,” says Peter (27). But thanks to Laing Homes’ Easymover Secure programme, the couple enjoyed their first Christmas in their brand new home at The Croft in Corby.

The new scheme offers buyers like Peter and Clare, who have a property to sell, a package of benefits designed to make moving easy.

Under the initiative, purchasers can reserve their brand new home while the leading housebuilder assists in finding a buyer for their current property – and pays the estate agents’ fees.

And if no buyer is found within four weeks, George Wimpey’s partner, Move With Us steps in to buy the property, paying all the legal fees.

“We found out about Easymover Secure when we visited the Laing sales centre at The Croft,” explains Peter.

“They instructed three valuations of our old house, and although the average of these valuations was £4,000 lower than the price we had originally put it on the market for, this was made up for by Laing paying the moving costs and legal fees.

“In addition, we moved in to our new four-bedroom ‘Stewart’ housetype just four-and-a-half weeks after we’d reserved it. Our old house is still waiting for a buyer – but that’s not for us to worry about any more!”

Lorraine Cooper, Easymover Manager for GWEM, says: “Peter and Clare are our first customers to use the Easymover Secure programme, and it has certainly helped them make a quick and hassle-free move at a time when the housing market has slowed.”

Robin King, Chief Executive Officer, for Secure Home Purchase, which operates the Easymover Secure programme, adds: “We understand how much anxiety can be felt by purchasers who are keen to sell their existing homes for a price they can be sure is right.

“That’s why the Easymover Secure programme has been specifically designed to help protect their original property investment, so that customers can feel confident about the financial benefits of moving to Laing’s high-quality homes.”

Peter, a human resources manager for the East Midlands Ambulance Service, and Clare (28), an interior designer, enjoyed having their families over for the festive season, with Christmas lunch being cooked in their new kitchen by Peter’s nan, a trained Cordon Bleu chef.

“We’re very happy with our new home,” Peter adds. “Corby is a great investment area at the moment, with new shopping and leisure facilities being built, and a direct, 60-minute rail service to London.”

Like all Laing Homes developments across the region, The Croft offers house-hunters a wide choice, including apartments and family homes. Prices at The Croft start from £154,995.

The Croft Sales Centre is located on Butland Road, Corby and is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. Log on to Georgewimpey.co.uk for more information.
