Banish housing blues with a new home in Northamptonshire

3rd June 2008 Print
Banish housing blues with a new home in Northamptonshire Contrary to media headlines, now could be the best time to buy a brand new home - with interest rates falling, UK employment at record high levels and the housing market still strongly under-pinned by supply and demand economics.

That's the view of Daniel Mumford, director of Northampton-based financial advisers Grange Mortgages, who are available to provide mortgage advice to customers at Redrow's new developments in Northamptonshire.

He adds: "The perception currently for many people is that they won't be able to get a mortgage so they shouldn't bother trying, but this is not necessarily the case. Yes, it may be a little more difficult than previously but there are mortgage lenders who want to lend and we can help people find the product that's right for them."

New homes like those at Redrow @ Oakley Vale in Corby and Redrow @ The Grange in Desborough have the edge over their older second hand counterparts in the current climate, not least because of the flexible choice of incentives that Redrow has to offer.

Mary Timlin, sales director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands) said: "The lack of 100% mortgage products from all the main lenders gives us an advantage over most private sellers, as we can pay a customer's 5% deposit.

"It's just one of the offerings in our ‘re:assure' package of help, advice and incentives, which are designed to make buying a new home as easy as possible for all of our customers - from the moment of first enquiry right through to after they've moved in.

"Other options include helping with people's mortgage repayments for up to two years, covering other moving costs like stamp duty and legal fees, or, for those with an existing home to sell, an assisted move scheme or even part-exchange."

The developments in Corby and Desborough boast an impressive array of spacious homes.

For those wishing to benefit from both a range of amenities and Northamptonshire's exceptional countryside, the homes at Redrow @ Oakley Vale, in Corby, would be ideal.

Offering the perfect balance of town and country, Oakley Vale comprises a popular selection of three-bedroom terrace and four-bedroom detached homes.

Corby itself offers many shops and restaurants. And just a few minutes from the town centre sits beautiful woodland, with views across the Welland Valley and the surrounding countryside. Corby's boating lake and the 200 square mile Rockingham Forest are also close by.

The development is perfect for commuters, with the M1 and M6 within easy reach. London is around one hour and 35 minutes away by train, while the main shopping areas of Milton Keynes and Northampton are both approximately half an hour's drive from the development.

Prices for the three-bedroom, three-storey terraced Lambourne, complete with double parking space, currently start from £154,995. Four-bedroom detached Lea properties, with a single garage, start at £185,995.

Meanwhile, in the market town of Desborough, Redrow @ The Grange currently includes three-bedroom homes from £157,995, four-bedroom detached homes from £199,995 and five-bedroom detached homes from £299,995.

The development is well situated for access to Leicester, Peterborough and Northampton, while train links from nearby Kettering station provide journey times to London St Pancras of just over an hour, making it ideal for commuters.
