First for everything - Family finds perfect home near Corby

First for everything - Family finds perfect home near Corby Just married, keen to start a family and smitten with the local area, one Northamptonshire couple found their ideal abode at Redrow @ Oakley Vale, in Corby.

It seems Laura and Steven Need are a family for firsts; they have bought their first home together, were the first people to move into Redrow @ Oakley Vale and are also the proud parents of five and a half months old Kara Grace, their first child and also the first baby on the development.

Laura, 24, and Steven, 31, moved to Redrow @ Oakley Vale from Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, after becoming enamoured with its location, which is within walking distance of the bustling town centre of Corby, Northamptonshire.

Laura, who is currently on maternity leave from her job as a nursery nurse, says: "We stayed with a friend in Corby for a few days after our honeymoon and were struck with how promising the area is. The town centre is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment and the immediate area around our home is really lovely.

"The fact that everything is on our doorstep is also a huge bonus, I regularly take Kara for a stroll into town and we have a great selection of shops, takeaways, a dentist, a nursery and other handy places just at the end of our road."

The couple were delighted when they found their three-bedroom, three-storey Lambourne design home and have since become layered living enthusiasts.

"We couldn't ask for more with our current home," says Laura. "We were so pleased when we found it, it's absolutely perfect for us. It offers us so much space, inside and out. We used to live in a bungalow and couldn't ever have imagined being able to have enough room for a nursery, let alone a guest bedroom, but now we've got both and have also fitted in a mini home office, it's brilliant!"

Starting a family meant Laura and Steven, who runs his own landscape gardening business, were eager to get onto the property ladder as soon as they could. The couple say that visiting the show home at Redrow @ Oakley Vale really helped them imagine how life would be at the site and ‘sealed the deal'.

Laura says: "We were bowled over by the show home, it was great to see how everything fitted into the house and to see it as a real home, rather than an empty shell. The Redrow staff were fantastic with us too, they did everything they could to help us and were always on hand to answer our questions and offer advice.

"We feel really lucky to have found our new home. From its price, to the extra space it offers us, to its location, it's ticked all of our boxes and we're really enjoying living here."

Redrow @ Oakley Vale offers a range of three-bedroom terrace and four-bedroom detached homes. Prices for the three-bedroom, three-storey mid terrace Lambourne currently start at £154,995, while there are also three-bedroom semis and four-bedroom detached homes up to £229,995.

Redrow Homes can provide a range of help, advice and potential incentives under the umbrella of ‘re:assure,' a package which is designed to make moving home as easy as possible, from the moment of first enquiry right through to after the customer has moved in.

Perfect for commuters, Redrow @ Oakley Vale offers easy access to the M1 and M6 as well as the A14, with links to the M1 and Cambridge. London is around one hour and 35 minutes away by train, while the main shopping areas of Milton Keynes and Northampton are both around half an hour's drive from the development.

Corby itself offers a range of amenities such as shops and restaurants and just a few minutes from the town centre is beautiful woodland, with views across the Welland Valley and the surrounding countryside. Corby's boating lake and the 200 square mile Rockingham Forest are also close by.

Corby is currently the subject of a large-scale project to regenerate and modernise the town, managed by North Northants Development Company. As well as building new houses, schools and shops, a better transport infrastructure is planned, together with a new arts centre, library and leisure facilities, including a 50 metre swimming pool.
