Dorset development proves hit with soldiers

The first residents are now moving into Purbeck Gate, Barratt Homes’ new development in Wool in Dorset – and they include a number of army personnel and their families taking advantage of Barratt Homes’ MOD discount scheme.

“We’re located very close to the Bovington Army Camp, which was set up way back in 1916 to train the first tank crews, and both Prince William and Prince Harry have been spotted in local stores,” reports Ray Smith, Barratt Homes’ on-site sales negotiator.

“We thought the house prices were very reasonable - it’s not easy to find affordable housing in this part of the country. Other people from the Bovington camp obviously thought the same, as our neighbour is a soldier and there’s another one a couple of doors away. They all wanted to settle in this area because it’s so beautiful.”

Lisa and Shaun bought a three-bedroom terraced home. “It’s a lovely house,” Lisa continued. “We have a through lounge, en-suite to the master bedroom and downstairs cloakroom and we’ve also got a garage, parking space and garden. The site manager has been really wonderful, so we’re very pleased with our purchase.”

Located in the tranquil village of Wool on the isle of Purbeck and just five miles from Lulworth Cove, a local beauty spot, Purbeck Gate offers a selection of two, three, four or five bedroom homes.
