Best foot forward for Jackie

George Wimpey sales executive Jackie Richardson is putting her best foot forward this Saturday night (16 June, 2007) as she, along with two friends, takes part in Edinburgh’s famous Moonwalk to raise funds for the breast cancer charities throughout the UK.

Starting from The Meadows Jacqui will join thousands of others to walk around the city-centre wearing her very own customised George Wimpey bra.

Jackie’s been following her own training programme in preparation for the big event and is looking forward to taking part in this amazing event as she explains: “Breast cancer has affected my family in a big way over the years, and taking part in the Moonwalk gives me an opportunity to make a difference in a positive way by getting out there and completing this challenge. I’m really looking forward to being part of such an amazing event, whilst being able to raise vital funds for breast cancer charities. I’ve already raised £300 from friends, family and neighbours, and George Wimpey has also sponsored me £100.”

Last year’s inaugural Edinburgh MoonWalk raised in excess of £1.7 million making it one of Scotland’s most successful fundraising events. Most of this money raised by the health charity Walk the Walk will stay in Scotland and grants totaling almost £7,000 have already been made to Maggie’s Centre’s, The Breast Cancer Institute and Breast Foot Forward.

With an extra 2,000 people signed up this year, The Edinburgh MoonWalk is due to be even more successful in 2007! The MoonWalk is no ordinary marathon, it starts at midnight and all participants wear brightly decorated bras to create what has been described as, “the mardi-gras of marathons”!

Thanks to Walk the Walk Worldwide, women and men have been raising money by power walking marathons in decorated bras the world over, from Peru to Paris, New York City to Dublin. Good luck to Jacqui and everyone involved in this years’ Edinburgh Moonwalk!
