Second phase launches at prestigious Quartermile development Edinburgh’s prestigious Quartermile development has today (30th October 2008) announced the release of the second phase of its popular High Meadows apartments. Designed by world renowned architects Foster + Partners, High Meadows’ striking steel and glass exterior is clad in aluminium to reflect the shades of Edinburgh’s local slate.

Comprising 26 one to four bedroom luxury apartments, including two luxurious penthouse suites, the interiors improve on the already high standard of quality and contemporary design set in the opening phase of High Meadows.

Each apartment features contemporary and open-plan spaces, presenting a rare opportunity to occupy an expertly designed modern urban apartment situated right at the heart of the prestigious £450m redevelopment of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The glass exterior provides each apartment with full height windows, enjoying stunning views across the highly sought after Quartermile district, whilst the upper levels enjoy unrivalled views across the Meadows and from the Pentlands in the south to the Firth of Forth in the north, taking in iconic land marks including Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill and Arthur’s Seat.

All of the properties boast bespoke open-plan fully fitted kitchens, designed by Foster + Partners. Bedrooms are generous in proportion with some featuring en-suite facilities, walk-in dressing areas and fitted wardrobes, providing plenty of storage space. Introducing true luxury, the bathrooms showcase glass panels, porcelain tiling complemented by contemporary Villeroy and Boch sanitaryware with Hans Grohe mixer taps.

Lorraine Paterson, Sales and Marketing Director for Gladedale Capital, said: “We are delighted to release the next phase of the High Meadows apartments following the success of the first phase.

“Because of its close proximity to The Meadows, enjoying breathtaking views and green spaces, High Meadows offers some of Quartermile’s most popular apartments.

“We believe the prime location, its designation as a world heritage site, and the exceptional level of design and quality on offer at Quartermile, ensures that the development holds wide appeal, attracting buyers from far and wide.”

Quartermile is emerging as one of Edinburgh’s most sought after addresses, bordering the Meadows and in easy walking distance of Princes Street and Waverley station. As well as private homes, Quartermile will also feature purpose built commercial and retail space, a 65-bed boutique hotel and seven acres of lush green space.

Peter’s Yard, Scotland’s first ever Swedish bakery, Sainsbury’s and Starbucks have already commenced trading on Simpson Loan, just off Middle Meadow Walk.

Properties comprise both new build and converted one to four bedroom apartments and penthouses. Residents will also benefit from lift access and the option to take secure underground parking as well as a 24 hour concierge service, and an onsite customer service team to ensure the smooth running of the Quartermile estate. Prices at Quartermile start from £170,000
