Barratt launches Halyards Place in Hailsham Barratt Southern Counties is launching Halyards Place, its new development in the historic country town of Hailsham, East Sussex, this weekend on Saturday 11th October. To celebrate, there will be a champagne reception with canapés in the marketing suite from 10 am and a four-bedroom detached showhome will be unveiled.

There has been early interest in this 1.5 acre luxury development, just north of Eastbourne, which will provide 22, two, three and four-bedroom houses. The new homes will compliment the local character of existing properties in the area by adopting an East Sussex cottage-style design.

The showhome has been planned with family living in mind. On the ground floor, the spacious open-plan living area opens up to a conservatory, which makes the room very light and perfect for entertaining. The modern interior design throughout uses soft, muted colours such as cream and old rose, creating a sophisticated feel.

"The attractive cottage-style design seems to be a major contributing factor to the strong interest we have been experiencing in Halyards Place, combined with the beautiful and historic location of Hailsham," said Trevor Sawyer, managing director of Barratt Southern Counties. He adds: "The showhome launch also signals that we are continuing to push ahead with developments despite the economic backdrop; this will be the fourth development we have launched in the past month."

Hailsham is an attractive town with a wide range of amenities, shops, eateries and entertainment. The High Street has a Waitrose and a selection of other household names, plus a number of boutiques and specialist shops. Adding to the variety are two weekly markets and a monthly farmers' and crafts market.

For country lovers, the Pevensey Levels is nearby, framed against the distinctive backdrop of the South Downs. A National Nature Reserve, The Levels is a low-lying tract of largely reclaimed wetland and home to some of the rarest species of birds and plant life in the UK.

For coastal lovers, Eastbourne is only ten miles away, with all the attractions of a vibrant, seaside location. At the eastern end of the beach lies a modern, locked marina, one of the largest along the South Coast that provides a secure base from which to sail to French havens such as Le Touquet.

Commuters will appreciate the convenient road and rail links to the town: Polegate station, four miles from Hailsham, provides frequent direct trains to London Victoria, Eastbourne and Hastings. The railway journey to Eastbourne only takes ten minutes, whilst the journey to London takes approximately 90 minutes. By road, London Gatwick Airport is a just under an hour away via the A22 and A23 and Newhaven Harbour, with regular ferries to France, is accessible in a little under half an hour.

Prices at Halyards Place start at £211, 995 for a two-bedroom house. For further information on Halyards Place, log on to Barratthomes.co.uk.
