Downsizer finds happiness with a penthouse on the coast When the time came for Ann Baldwin to downsize, she didn’t want to have to compromise on size or location.

That’s when she discovered H20 in Eastbourne by Barratt Southern Counties and found her ideal home, a contemporary, spacious two-bedroom penthouse in a fantastic coastal location.

Ann was previously living in Hailsham and having recently come out of a relationship, she was looking for a fresh start and wanted to move to somewhere more exciting, with plenty of things to do on her doorstep. Eastbourne turned out to be the perfect place, benefiting from a wealth of shops, restaurants and theatres, as well as a fabulous sea-front.

“I found out about H20 when I was browsing the internet and came across the Barratt website” said Ann. “I was specifically looking for a brand new home, so I wouldn’t have to worry about any DIY. Even though my penthouse wasn’t built yet when I first visited the development, I knew it was right for me!” she added.

Ann bought her new home off-plan, paying just £170,000 for her two-bedroom penthouse, as a cash buyer.

Ann continues: “I was initially a little nervous about buying off-plan but I am so pleased I did. Watching my home being built was really quite exciting and I managed to make it my own before I moved in, as I could choose the carpets, tiles, kitchen units and even the work surfaces. My apartment was also such great value for money, with all the flooring, carpets and kitchen appliances included in the price.”

Ann also loves the convenient location of her new home. “It’s only a 20 minute commute by car to Hailsham where I work as an invoice clerk and the development is only a two minute walk into the town centre and the seafront,” she said.

Ann’s two-bedroom penthouse apartment benefits from a large terrace and well-proportioned rooms throughout. She said: “Both the bedrooms are really spacious and my daughter, who is currently at university in Kent, enjoys coming back to stay in the holidays and certainly made the most of the beach this summer!”

Ann concludes: “The terrace really is the icing on the cake! Having moved from a four-bedroom detached house, size and space are very important to me. Having such a fantastic outside space has made all the difference. It’s ideal for having friends over for barbecues in the summertime – and I’ve managed to make the most of it already this year as the apartment was ready to move into in June. I really couldn’t have found a better place to move to, I love my new lifestyle!”

Susans Road is located in the exclusive Meads Conservation area of Eastbourne. The beach is a few minutes’ walk away and at its eastern end, a modern, locked marina is one of the largest along the South Coast. Communications by road, along the coast to Newhaven Ferry terminal, inland to Gatwick airport, and up to London are very good. A regular train service brings Brighton within 30 minutes reach, whilst London is approximately 90 minutes away.

Prices at H20, Susans Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 3HA currently start from £99,995. For more information, visit barratthomes.co.uk.
