Direct debit is less taxing

29th January 2007 Print
North Shropshire households are streamlining their Council Tax by paying direct.

North Shropshire District Council collects Council Tax for the district and has a variety of ways in which people can pay their bills including:

telephone
internet
bankers standing order
at the Post Office
Direct Debit

Almost two thirds of the districts ratepayers now pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit, which is the easiest and most handy way to pay. It takes just one phone call to arrange a Direct Debit payment, which does not need to be renewed each year.

Councillor David Minnery, Leader of North Shropshire District Council said: “Residents have expressed that paying their Council Tax by Direct Debit is considerably more convenient than by any other method. It is also the most cost effective way for the Council to collect taxes. This, in turn keeps down the cost of administration. The Council is striving to be the best authority in our class and by having such an exceptional rate of collection by Direct Debit, we are nearing that goal.”
