First couple move in at the Forge

28th March 2008 Print
First couple move in at the Forge A brand new village community is starting to take shape near Telford, as the first new residents move in to The Forge, George Wimpey North Midlands’ stunning development at Ironstone.

Richard and Yvonne Mason are getting their year off to a fantastic, fresh start in a four-bedroom detached ‘Linley’ housetype, which they chose both for the style of the property and its fabulous location.

“We had been looking for a new home in the Telford area for some time,” says Richard (38), who works as a printer of catalogues and brochures in Aberystwyth.

“The opening of The Forge at Ironstone coincided with the timing of our search and George Wimpey’s prices compared very favourably with existing properties on the market.

“Not only that, but because the development is in its early stages, we were able to buy our home off-plan, which meant we could choose the style of our kitchen units and appliances, carpets and floorings, as well as the bathroom suites.

“When we moved in everything we had chosen had been fitted for us.”

For Yvonne (32), who works for Telford and Wrekin Council, The Forge is in an ideal location, and she and Richard, who are originally from Much Wenlock in Shropshire, are now enjoying being close to their families, having moved back to the area from Aberystwyth.

With the development attracting a great deal of interest since its showhomes opened at the end of last year, it hasn’t taken long for The Forge’s first couple to be joined by more happy homebuyers, and with a range of exclusive shops, trendy bars and restaurants being built alongside the homes, Richard and Yvonne are looking forward to a bright future at Telford’s new property hotspot.

The spacious four-bedroom ‘Linley’ which the Masons chose features a superb lounge spanning the full depth of the property and with French doors to the rear garden, a large kitchen/breakfast room with separate utility room, a separate dining room and a guest cloakroom.

Upstairs, the landing leads to the master bedroom with en-suite facilities, three further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Outside there is a garage.

For those looking to enjoy life in a vibrant new community within easy reach of Telford and the beautiful Shropshire countryside, a range of homes is currently available at The Forge.

Contemporary two-bedroom apartments start at £147,500, three-bedroom homes from £189,995, four-bedroom designs such as the ‘Linley’ from £239,995, and luxury five-bedroom properties are priced from £289,995.

New homes at the development enjoy a high standard specification including gas central heating, double glazing and fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.

The Forge is part of Ironstone, a brand new sustainable village community at Lawley comprising four distinct neighbourhoods and offering a bustling social hub, classical architecture, open spaces and a host of local facilities.

The community has been carefully designed to integrate a range of new facilities, including its own central square with designer shops, trendy wine bars and eateries, a mixed-use village centre and a primary school, as well as a wide choice of affordable homes.

The Forge is well-served by existing and new public transport links and commuters will appreciate that the M54 and M6 are a short drive away.

Telford – the largest town in Shropshire – lies less than three miles from the development and is home to a vast array of leisure opportunities, including a large shopping centre and the accompanying town park, a large cinema, bars, cafes, restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.

George Wimpey offers a range of deals tailor-made for all types of buyers, and for those with a property to sell, the leading housebuilder’s easymover programme offers a range of attractive incentives on selected properties.

Further information is available by visiting the new Sales Centre, located off Arlestone Lane, Lawley, and open seven days, from 11am to 5pm.
