No more scouting around for bonfire wood
Barratt West Midlands is donating scrap wood from its Monarch Fields development in Telford to 1st Priorslee and St. George's Scout Group, for its annual bonfire and fireworks bash this Saturday, 1st November. And the house builder is offering surplice and waste wood from all of its developments throughout the West Midlands, to other groups who need extra fuel for the fire to ensure their festivities go off with a bang. The 1st Priorslee and St. George's Scout Group event on Snedshill Way has always been a sparkling success and residents from across the area are being encouraged to come and support the display. Group leaders will collect the wood from the site on Saturday morning in plenty of time to pile the bonfire high before visitors arrive.
First Priorslee and St. George's Scout Group Chairman, Carolynn Jones, said, "Our annual fireworks event is important to our scouts and the local community, so we were very grateful for Barratt's offer of extra wood for the bonfire - it is good to know we will have enough to keep people entertained all evening.
"We would love to see the community at Saturday's event to enjoy the display - there will be fireworks, a bonfire and barbecue, which should make for a fantastic evening."
Barratt is urging any other Scouts, Guides, Brownies or other groups who would like some extra wood for their displays to get in touch to arrange a time when they can pick it up.
Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt West Midlands, said, "As a responsible house builder, we like to get involved with our local communities and help them out where possible. Offering this wood is a chance for us to make links with groups situated around our developments and in the case of 1st Priorslee and St. George's Scout Group, it ensures they will be stocked up enough to make sure that their bonfire celebration is a complete success."
