Telford dream home comes 'digitally enhanced'!

Telford dream home comes 'digitally enhanced'! A young Telford couple ‘got themselves on the telly' whilst landing their dream home in Hadley! First time buyers Austin Hayward (19) and partner Amy Clueit (20) attended the recent Castle Meadows showhome opening by George Wimpey West Midlands on Castle Lane and entered a free prize draw to win a state-of-the-art 32" flat screen TV worth £500.

Austin, an electrical apprentice, explains: "It was the icing on the cake and the end of a perfect day really, because we don't own a digital TV and have been living with parents nearby. But we immediately fell in love with the three bedroom, three storey Brecon showhome and went for exactly the same housetype just a few doors down. Living at home has been fine, but it's great to finally get our own space and onto the property ladder. George Wimpey have been very helpful and we took advantage of their shared equity scheme that means we only have to find a 75% mortgage with them providing a rent and interest-free loan on the remaining 25% of the purchase price for up to ten years."

Amy, a marketing administrator, adds: "It's great to be able to stay in Hadley because that's where all our family live and Austin also work locally, plus it's an up-and-coming area that seems to be going places and has good facilities on the doorstep."

Castle Meadows is a £21.5 million development made up of 103 homes combining luxury apartments, traditional detached properties and contemporary mews-style homes on the former GKN Sankey football stadium and car park off Britannia Way. The car park has remained unused for a number of years while the stadium has long been derelict and overgrown, so George Wimpey's ‘design-led' scheme will further transform this traditionally commercial, but up-and-coming residential area.

Sales manager Michelle Davies says: "Local reaction has already been positive as we've dramatically improved the look and appeal of that part of Britannia Way - and our new homes will ultimately add to the appeal and image of their surroundings. We've worked very closely with Telford & Wrekin Council and have also brought in specialist architects to make sure that our scheme offers all the contemporary and modern benefits of new build, but also fits in with the local vernacular.

"The end result is a more traditional product mix with a leaning towards the 1920s style that's prevalent in the area and popular features like sash windows, stone lintels and sills, a mixed palate of brick and render, plus classically plain roof tiles. Market research and feedback from local agents reveals a demand and need for such properties in the Hadley area and they should especially appeal to local first time buyers and those looking to make the next step up from their starter home."

Current availability includes three bedroom mews homes from only £139,995.
