The multi-million pounds regeneration of the city is led by urban development company, Newport Unlimited.

Award-winning Redrow is also playing a role in the transformation with its own waterfront regeneration scheme, on the site of the former Black Clawson engineering works, which will have a finished value of more than £50million.

Redrow has just launched the third phase of its flagship Alexandra Gate development, which will eventually consist of 399 contemporary homes, some of which boast enviable views of the River Usk.

The first two phases included one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses as well as Redrow’s innovative and affordable Debut homes, targeted at first-time buyers.

The third phase of the venture has just gone on sale and includes a range of two, three and four-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses.

Debby Pavitt, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales) said: “We are delighted to be launching the third phase of this fantastic development

“Alexandra Gate has proved very popular because there’s such a wide-range of homes on offer, whether it is for a family, young professional, retired couple or first-time buyers. Redrow has had massive success in South Wales with each of our developments growing into an enviable community and we know that Alexandra Gate will be a terrific place to live.”

Millions of pounds are set to be pumped into Newport over the next few years as it enjoys the same sort of investment that has changed the fortunes of Cardiff and Swansea.

The new homes are part of a major facelift for the city and the first part of the wider regeneration plans for Old Town Dock. The surrounding area will also contain an office district, an 80-room hotel, a park and other facilities all set along the banks of the River Usk.

Alexandra Gate enjoys an excellent riverside location, with the M4 motorway nearby providing easy access to other major towns and cities, including Cardiff and Bristol.

Phase three homes at Alexandra Gate are now on sale and start from £155,995 for a two-bedroom mid-terrace house.

Other properties at the development are priced from £125,995 for a one-bedroom Amherst-style apartment to £269,995 for a three-storey four-bedroom Teign-style home with a single detached garage.
