Why rent when you can buy? Potential first-time buyers who are keen to escape the rental market are being given a helping hand when they visit Barratt's Foxcombe development in Duffryn near Newport.

"Buyers new to the property market might think Foxcombe is out of their reach, but we have some excellent first-time buyer deals to make this superb site accessible to them," reports Sandra Dixon, Barratt Sales Director. "These include help with deposits, legal fees and stamp duty.

"A special day for first time buyers was a great success and showed first-time buyers just how affordable a new home can be, and we had independent financial advisers on hand to give them comprehensive advice tailored to meet their needs.

"There are so many advantages to buying a first home," she continued. "It's a real capital investment compared to renting, and there's no danger of a landlord withholding your deposit or giving you notice to leave. Also, you can choose your perfect location and decorate the property to match your own personal tastes."

Now in the second phase of development, Foxcombe provides a wide variety of homes suitable for first-time buyers.

These include two-bedroom coach houses priced from £134,500; two-bedroom terraced houses priced from £139,995 and three-bedroom houses priced from £179,995.

The site is located close to the M4, and local amenities include a post office, large supermarket and primary and secondary schools. For a wider variety of shopping and leisure facilities, Newport is only a 10-minute drive away.

Local attractions include Tredegar House and Park and the Roman ruins at Caerlon and Caerwent. There are at least four local golf courses and there is a top-quality health and fitness club at the nearby Celtic Manor Hotel.
