Dream homes for first-time buyers in Newport First-time buyers looking for an affordable new home should pay a visit to David Wilson Homes' Carisbrooke Grange development in Newport, where a two-bedroom apartment is now available from just £103,496.

"This fantastic deal on the Thorness apartment is available under the Dream Start initiative and offers a considerable saving on the original asking price of £137,995," reports Mark Docherty, David Wilson Homes sales director.

"We know how difficult it is for first-time buyers to enter the housing market, particularly with the current credit crunch, so we have designed our Dream Start option to give them a helping hand. They only need to pay 75 per cent of the full asking price and there's no deposit required.

"The offer works by arranging mortgage finance on 75 per cent of the purchase price while the other 25 per cent is covered by David Wilson Homes and repayable interest free, either within 10 years or on the resale of the property," he added.

The Thorness is an ideal starter home and comes with a parking space. Internal features include two bedrooms (one en-suite), open-plan kitchen and separate spacious bathroom.

When complete, Carisbrooke Grange will offer 143 properties - a mixture of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes. Current availability ranges from a one-bedroom coach house price from £123,995 to a three-bedroom detached house priced from £237,995.

"We have three show homes at the development, including a two-bedroom house and a three-bedroom town house," Mark continued. "They give visitors an idea of the accommodation available, and of the high standards they can expect from the homes at this site."

Carisbrooke Grange is located to the west of Newport, the island's principal town and main shopping centre. Excellent roads and bus services make it easy to reach any part of the island and there are regular ferry services to the mainland.

In addition to major chain stores, Newport offers a number of individual little shops in the lanes leading off the high street, as well as a host of sporting and leisure facilities. Local attractions include a Roman villa and Carisbrooke Castle, built in the 11th century. Newport Harbour offers yachting facilities and a waterfront restaurant.
